the backstory

Life is crazy.  I mean crazy.  For me, it is about figuring it out the best I can and doing the best with what it throws at me.  And for the last 35 years, it is like I have been in front of an automatic pitching machine stuck on super-hyper-let's kick some ass mode.  So... in an attempt to go with my original plan of sorting out all these lessons being hurled at me at record speed, I feel the need to jot a few things down.  To record my thoughts about what has happened so far, to sort through what is right in front of me, and make guesses and plans about the future.

Some crazy curveballs that have left their mark on me:
  • Things that seem constant can sometimes be fleeting.
  • Sometimes the things that you might assume are fleeting, remain constant.  Good and bad.
  • Hair texture changes after having kids.  Period.
  • Making it a point to smile, snuggle and peck my husband when he comes home from work - no matter how tired, cranky, busy, or pissy I am - is super important and makes a difference in how the rest of our night goes and sets the stage for how the rest of our lives are going to go.
  • Friends are like wine for several reasons.  They get better over time.  They are essential for the best and the worst of times, and are fun for just a random afternoon as well.  If you don't treat them with respect, they can rock your world.  If you know how to take care of them, however, they can enhance your life and make you feel dizzy with pleasure.
  • Whatever doesn't kill you, actually does make you stronger.
  • Two little boys can make you so happy you feel like you might explode, so mad you feel like you want them to explode, so tired you are counting the minutes until bedtime, so fortunate that you are literally begging for the years to slow down, so frustrated you feel out of options, and so blessed you wonder how you deserve to answer to "Mom" - all within the span of about a half hour.
